Photos are the most important selling point of online auctions. The more photos you post to your auctions, the greater chance the units will sell for higher prices than an auction with little to no photos. Your photos should provide a visual of the amount of items in the unit as well as the dimensions.
We recommend:
- Use a digital camera or smart phone.
- Camera Flash should be set to ‘On’.
- Camera resolution settings should be set to 1600x1200 or similar.
- Stand outside of the unit when taking photos. It is recommended that you do not enter the unit, move or remove items.
- Avoid sun glare. The sun should not be behind you.
- Take at least 10 clear, quality photos
- Take a photo of the unit number.
(This photo will identify that the next photos taken belong to this unit number). - Take a photo of the entire unit without the unit number showing.
- Photograph each quadrant of the unit
(top left, top right, bottom left, bottom right). - Zoom in and photograph any notable or marketable items.
- Take photos from different angles.
- Take a photo of the tamper tag and lock (optional)
- Before you close the unit, review the photos you had just taken. Retake any blurry or dark photos.
- Take additional photos as needed.
- Take a photo of the unit number.
Note: It is recommended that you do not post the photo showing the unit number or tamper tag to your auction. These could provide the location of the unit to individuals on the property and could possibly entice break-ins. Keep these photos for your records only.
