When a winning bidder defaults and fails to pick up an auction, the seller has the option to sell to a backup bidder. The backup bidder will be sent a ‘Second Chance Offer’ email from Customer Support, offering the opportunity to win the auction at their highest bid amount. The offers may extend to additional backup bidders, if the higher bidder is not interested.
Second Chance Offer Email
A Second Chance Offer email is sent to the backup bidder. The email provides:
- The Auction ID number
- A link to view the auction
- Images of the unit
- Amount of your high bid
- Instructions to accept the Offer
Respond Immediately
A Second Chance Offer is only available for a limited time. When you receive an Offer, you need to respond as quickly as possible. You risk losing the auction to the next backup bidder. The storage facility (seller) needs the unit emptied as soon as possible, so they can move in a new tenant. Customer Support strives to resolve backup bidder cases in 72 hours or less.
Tip: If you recently bid on auctions but were outbid, check your email and answer any phone calls from StorageTreasures! You could win big with a Second Chance Offer opportunity!
