What is the Public Notice Ad?
The Public Notice Ad is an optional feature available during the auction posting process. When completing the Auction Details page, you will have the option to generate a Public Notice Ad. The information entered in this section—including delinquent tenant and auction details—will be displayed on the Public Notices page of www.StorageTreasures.com. This feature is designed to serve as a legal notice publication, as commonly required under self-storage lien laws.
Important: While StorageTreasures provides this tool as a convenience, it is the sole responsibility of the facility to ensure all legal notice content meets the requirements in their state. - Are Public Notice Ads on StorageTreasures required?
Public Notice Ads are optional on StorageTreasures. However, your corporate account settings may require or restrict their use based on company policies.
Even if you utilize the Public Notice Ad feature on StorageTreasures, your state may still require you to publish an additional notice in a local newspaper or other approved platform. Be sure to consult your state's self-storage lien laws to ensure full compliance. - What information is required for a Public Notice Ad?
If you choose to publish a Public Notice Ad on StorageTreasures, you will need to complete fields such as the delinquent tenant’s name, address, lien amount owed, and unit number. Required fields may vary by state. The auction form will prompt you for only the information necessary to meet the general requirements for your location.
Note: StorageTreasures does not verify or validate the accuracy or legality of the information entered. It is the facility’s responsibility to ensure the ad content is correct and complete. - Does the Public Notice Ad meet my state’s lien law requirements?
The Public Notice Ad feature is intended to satisfy online publication requirements where allowed by law. However, self-storage lien laws vary by state—and in some cases, local requirements may also apply. It is essential that your facility reviews applicable lien laws to determine whether additional actions (such as newspaper ads or dual postings) are required.
